13th October Y5 visit London
Class: Year 5 Year: 2016 - 2017
On the 13th October Y5 met at Runcorn mainline railway station for an exciting visit to London. After an amazingly quick two hour journey on the Virgin train we arrived at Euston, from there we took a tube journey to Waterloo, for many children this was their first every tube journey. After a flight on the London Eye (even the children who had their reservations about going on loved it). We then stopped for lunch and were wonderfully looked after by MacDonalds staff. We then spent an hour sight seeing, wandering past 10 Downing street, admiring the Cenotaph, taking photos of the horses at Horse Guard's parade and finally strolling down the mall to Buckingham Palace before hoping back on the tube to the Tower of London. While exploring the Tower we were able to see the Crown Jewels and the Bloody Tower, somewhere we have heard about in our class book. Finally, at 5pm we made our way back to Euston Station. A long and tiring day but a very special one that remain in the children's memories for many years.
