Computing
Computing
At Hillside, through a comprehensive computing curriculum we provided the children will the knowledge, skills and understanding that they require to respond to rapidly changing technology. Our curriculum equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity, with the aim of enabling them to not only become active participants but also to help with the development of the future digital world.
The computing curriculum covers three core strands, computer science, digital literacy and information technology. These strands are taught and developed upon progressively from Reception to Year 6 both in discreet computing lessons and through cross curricular tasks to ensure understanding is embedded.
Through the teaching of computing, children will be exposed to key vocabulary that will enable them to be able to explain their understanding of computing. We recognise the importance and significance of the Internet in the children’s lives and place an emphasis on e-safety. Our curriculum provides the children with a detailed knowledge and understanding of staying safe online and being responsible in their own use.
