Friday Round Up - 27.9.24

Dear All,

Year 2 have had a great week and we have celebrated our September certificate winners today – Treve, Isabelle and Eliza, with Felicity as our lead learner. Well done to all!

If any parents would like to volunteer in year 2, please do not hesitate to contact me.

In English we had a visit from Mrs Lumpit asking us for help to write a letter to Tabitha to persuade her to come back home. We have looked at contractions – he’ll, she’ll, I’m, I’ll, don’t, can’t. We have also designed our own child character, in the style of Tabitha from the story Troll Swap, remembering to use expanded noun phrases to add interest to our writing.

Please read at least 5 times per week and ensure you sign the diary so that your child can become a reading star, which they are all eager to be. Reading at home is THE most important homework you can do with your child. I promise you will see your child, not only become better readers, but spellers and writers too.

Next Thursday we are holding a Reading Meeting, please try to make the time to attend.

In Maths we have been estimating numbers on a number line and we have compared and ordered objects and numbers, thinking about what is the same and what is different.

In Geography we are learning about the seasons and we have been observing and predicting the weather and looking at the wind direction.

Many thanks, Mrs Fletcher-Curran
